Reshaping the sector from leisure to well-being

DB Consulting was established in 2019 by David Burns, driven by his aspiration to share his expertise more broadly with local government, leisure and academia.

With over two decades of experience in the sports, leisure, and physical activity sectors in both the UK and Australia, David brings valuable end-user insights and strategic acumen, enabling leadership teams, policymakers, and change-makers to create a significant impact.

DB Consulting has offered guidance to local governments on some of Australia's most prominent leisure facilities, including the $106 million Gunyama Park Aquatic and Recreation Centre, the flagship $88 million Parramatta Aquatic Centre, and the $100 million Blacktown Exercise Sports and Technology (BEST) Hub and Lodge.

Our distinctive approach lies in activating community assets for the betterment of all. From assisting clients with infrastructure development and operations to capacity-building and leadership, DB Consulting provides a comprehensive 360-degree service.

David is also the CEO and Founder of Collective Leisure. A certified social enterprise with a mission to reduce health inequity within communities, encapsulated by their purpose "enabling well-being without boundaries."

A social enterprise is a ‘business for good’. Notably, Collective Leisure leads WSYD Moving – a whole of system initiative reducing inactivity and inequalities in Western Sydney, enabling more active lives.

To support the system change required, Collective Leisure co-creates initiatives for underserved communities, enabling them to be well-beings.

It operates as a Work Integration Social Enterprise, providing meaningful employment opportunities for individuals from refugee backgrounds in the sports and leisure industry.
